find non-chemical alternatives to cleaning producs
This is also part of reducing my/our carbon footprint. I use lots of different products, and would like to substitute, where possible, to less damaging to the environment type cleaners. I already use "washnuts" with vinegar and baking soda in the washing machine, but am wondering about the loo, the floors, ethe dusting tc etc.

any ideas about what they are using? I know that vinegar and baking soda are great, and also olive oil as a furniture polish, but I am wondering mainly about floors and sanitising the bathroom....

In Italian, "borace" - never heard of it to buy here! Will have to start looking around. I like baking soda, vinegar and hot water to de-gunk the shower drain. I do that once a week, and in the kitchen, too.

I've actually seen the waitresses using cheap vodka(?) as rubbing alcohol to wipe-off fingerprints and grease marks of the steel counter-tops and serving areas, of the cafe-restaurant at night/cafe at night before closing up time. I do use alcohol for cleaning and disinfecting - but stuff I buy for that purpose. I guess it is a bit like methylated spirits? It is pink, and smells vile. YOu wouldn't want to drink it, that's for sure! I clean down my stone benchtops with it. Thanks for the link! I don't want to buy vodka- hubs will think I am turning alchi on him!
